Kirsten’s shoe portraits capture the essence of a time and place through her use of collaged fragments and carefully chosen text. The Festival shoes reference the variety of entertainments and the visual feast that is The Henley Festival, where these shoes were first worn.
Yvette’s shoes are exuberant, daring and ostentatious. The dictionary references to ‘English’, ‘cooking’ and ‘wine’ refer to Yvette’s specialist subjects! .She is quintessentially English , like the rose in one of the stamps and the vibrant colour on the collectors cards within the piece refer to the fabulous outfits and shoes, for which Yvette is very well known!
